Privacy policy

Vroomy is made by The Only AIgency, a sole proprietorship registered in Denmark (CVR 42319473). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. It covers the Vroomy app and this website, and is written to meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your account

• Your name and email address, and your password if you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see them.
• If you continue with Apple or Google, the name and email address they share with us. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one.
• Your profile photo, if you add one.
• That you accepted the terms, and whether you want emails about Vroomy.

Your home

Your home's name, color, currency and invite key, who lives there, and requests to join. And what you and your roomies add: expenses and payments marked as paid, chores, who did them, points and thanks, calendar events, grocery items, pinboard notes, and your mood, home status and thoughts.

Everyone in your home can see this. That's what makes Vroomy work, so only share what you're happy for your roomies to see.

Purchases

If you subscribe to Vroomy Plus, Apple tells us which plan you have and whether it's active. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details.

Your device and how you use the app

• Device model, iOS and app version, language and region, and IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out).
• A push notification token, so we can send the notifications you've turned on.
• Crash reports, so we can fix problems.
• With your consent: which screens and features you use, and events such as opening the paywall or starting a subscription.

Ads in the app

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. Other ad companies can bid through AdMob to show an ad in Vroomy (see “Who we share it with”). In the EU we ask for your consent first (Google's consent form). From Vroomy 2.0, the app doesn't ask to track you, and all ads are non-personalized: they aren't based on what you do in other apps, and Vroomy's own analytics don't collect your device's advertising identifier. If you allowed tracking in an earlier version, iOS keeps that choice until you change it, and Google's ad software may still use the identifier to measure ads (you can turn this off under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking). Earlier versions of the app may ask whether Vroomy can track you. Ad companies may still get limited data, such as your IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out), your device model and that the ad is in Vroomy, to show the ad and prevent fraud.

Vroomy doesn't use your precise location, and never gives ad companies your name, email address or anything you add to your home.

This website

With your consent, the website uses cookies and similar tools from Google (Analytics and Ads), Meta and TikTok to see how the site is used and to measure our ads. Without consent, only what's needed for the site to work is used.

When you contact us

Your email address and what you write, so we can answer.

• To run Vroomy (your account, your home, notifications, Vroomy Plus): needed to provide the service you signed up for (contract).
• To keep Vroomy working and safe (crash reports, security, fraud prevention): our legitimate interest in a reliable, secure app.
• To show ads in the free version: our legitimate interest in keeping Vroomy free, and your consent for personalized ads.
• To understand how Vroomy is used and measure our ads (app and website analytics, Meta and TikTok): your consent.
• To email you about Vroomy: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To meet legal obligations, such as answering authorities: legal obligation.

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with:

• The people in your home, as described above.
• Google, which runs Vroomy's backend: Google Cloud in Belgium for Vroomy's servers, database and photos (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL and Cloud Storage, reached through Firebase Hosting), and Firebase Authentication, App Check, Cloud Messaging, Analytics and Crashlytics. Until our move to the new servers is finished, earlier versions of the app use Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions in Frankfurt; we delete that copy about four weeks after the move. Google also serves the ads (AdMob) and, with consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads on the website.
• Ad companies that bid through AdMob: ad exchanges and ad networks such as OpenX, PubMatic, Magnite and Index Exchange, and the advertisers and agencies that buy through them, to show ads in the free version and, with your consent, personalized ads.
• Apple, for Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and delivering push notifications.
• Meta, with your consent, to measure our ad campaigns in the app and on the website.
• TikTok, with your consent, to measure our ad campaigns on the website.
• The company that hosts this website.
• Authorities, if the law requires it.

Google, Apple and Meta work with us under their data processing terms. For their own advertising and measurement, Google, Meta and the ad companies above also act as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.

Some of these companies process data in the United States. When they do, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Your account: until you delete it. Deleting your account in the app removes your profile and your sign-in straight away.
• What you added to a home (expenses, chores, notes and so on): kept while the home exists, so your roomies' balances and history still add up. If you want it, or your profile photo, deleted too, write to us and we'll do it.
• Server logs: requests to our servers, including your IP address, are kept for up to 30 days to keep Vroomy secure and to fix problems.
• Analytics data: up to 14 months.
• Crash reports: up to 90 days.
• Emails to us: as long as we need them to help you.

• Edit your profile, leave a home or delete your account from the menu in the app.
• Notifications: choose which ones you get in the app's notification settings, or turn them off in iOS Settings.
• Ads and measurement: change your consent under Privacy choices in the app's menu, and tracking under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iPhone. With both off, you get no personalized or cross-app ads; you still see ads that aren't personalized. Vroomy Plus removes ads altogether.
• Website cookies: use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
• Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us.

You can ask for a copy of your personal data (also in a portable format), have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@theonlyaigency.com and we'll answer within a month.

You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.dk, or to the authority where you live.

Data is encrypted on its way to and from our servers and stored encrypted by Google. Only we can access the backend, and access is limited to what's needed to run and support Vroomy.

Vroomy isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us personal data, write to us and we'll delete it.

When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll also tell you in the app or by email. See also our terms and conditions.
